RED is a significant, multi-directorate program emanating from NSF’s IUSE and PFE frameworks. The program supports departments to create “significant sustainable changes necessary to overcome longstanding issues in their undergraduate programs and educate inclusive communities of engineering and computer science students prepared to solve 21st-century challenges.” This experiment in large-scale change began in 2015 with the first cohort of grantees. Currently, thirteen departments are participating in RED-funded initiatives. NSF has committed to funding a third cohort in 2017 – additional details are available on the RED program page.
